The six franchises competing in the Dehradun T20 League 2026 finalized their leadership on August 29, ahead of the tournament’s kickoff on September 2. Hosted at the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, this announcement establishes the on-field captaincy for the eight-day competition.
Akash Madhwal, the former Mumbai Indians player in the IPL, will captain the Mussoorie Thunder. Jagadeesha Suchith has been named the leader of Herbertpur Knightriders, adding further IPL and domestic experience to the league. The other four teams will be steered by TNR Mohit (Doiwala Kings), Yuvraj Chaudhary (Rishikesh Dragons), Kunal Chandela (Vikasnagar Dhamaka), and Piyush Joshi (Selakui Strikers).
“Having experienced and capable players lead the six teams is a major advantage for the Dehradun T20 League. Captains such as Akash Madhwal and Jagadeesha Suchith bring valuable experience from IPL and domestic cricket, while TNR Mohit, Yuvraj Chaudhary, Kunal Chandela and Piyush Joshi understand the local cricketing environment and the potential of players from the region. Their leadership will be crucial not only in the competition but also in helping young players learn, adapt and perform at this level,” Mishra was quoted as saying by The News Mill.
Tournament Schedule Overview
The inaugural Dehradun T20 League 2026 will span from September 2 to September 9, featuring 18 matches played at the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy. The competition begins with 15 league-stage matches, followed by two semi-finals on September 8 and the championship final on September 9.
Every match throughout the league stage, knockout rounds, and the final will be played at a single centralized venue in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
