Luxury brands have focused on price increases for the past five years, but DeMellier London has carved a niche by offering accessible luxury under four figures. Today, the British handbag label launches its Autumn Winter 2026 collection featuring the Brooklyn family—new variants of its bestselling New York bag, priced between £540 and £625. A new New York Crossbody also joins the lineup, reinforcing the brand’s customer-focused approach.
Price hikes once drove luxury growth, but 2025 data shows average increases have slowed to 3%, the lowest since 2019. Meanwhile, entry-level luxury handbags now routinely exceed $1,000, leaving room for brands like DeMellier, Polène, Strathberry, and Toteme to attract consumers seeking design and craftsmanship without heritage branding.
“Luxury was tied to high prices and logos. Today’s informed consumer wants exceptional design, materials, craftsmanship, and values like price integrity, sustainability, and longevity,” says DeMellier founder Mireia Llusia-Lindh.
Building On A Bestseller

The Brooklyn exemplifies DeMellier’s evolution strategy. Retaining the New York bag’s sleek proportions and architectural design, it adds a fold-over closure, internal zip, and longer top handles. Both sizes are handcrafted in Italy using Gold-rated LWG tannery leather. “The New York is sophisticated and functional, and with Brooklyn, we evolved those qualities into a distinct yet related family,” Llusia-Lindh explains.
Functionality drives the design: the Brooklyn is roomy for daily use, while the Crossbody offers adjustable straps and greater capacity. Expanding a proven design resonates with consumers, fostering repeat purchases.
The Space Between High Street And Heritage Luxury
“Our customers have always been our greatest ambassadors, and much of our growth has come through word of mouth and women discovering the brand through other women whose style they admire.” Explains DeMellier, London CEO – Mireia Llusia-Lindh (Photo by David M. DeMellier’s growth aligns with shifting luxury expectations. Celebrities like Beyoncé, Anne Hathaway, and Princess Catherine have championed the brand, alongside its sustainable practices, including the A Bag, A Life programme that funds vaccines. A £625 handbag positions it strategically between high street affordability and heritage price tags.
“The gap between high street and heritage luxury has become valuable. DeMellier is visible yet understated, avoiding ubiquity while maintaining desirability,” Llusia-Lindh notes.
Word-of-mouth marketing amplifies its reach. A recent resale study showed Brooklyn styles retained value near retail prices, reflecting consumer demand for understated luxury with lasting appeal.
DeMellier Moves Onto Sloane Square
DeMellier’s 2026 collection launches alongside plans for its first flagship store at 35–37 Sloane Square, London. Located between premium brands like Tiffany & Co and Aesop, the space underscores its elevated yet accessible positioning. This marks a strategic shift from digital discovery to physical retail presence.
“Every decision—from partnerships to market entries—must feel right for DeMellier, not just for growth,” Llusia-Lindh states. The brand’s disciplined expansion, including selective wholesale and international retail partnerships, reflects its core values.
With the Brooklyn extending its bestselling line and a flagship store set to open, DeMellier enters its next growth phase. As luxury becomes both pricier and more mainstream, its understated allure—discovered rather than seen—positions it for continued success.
