Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau will travel to Panama City on June 22‑23 to lead the United States delegation at the 56th regular session of the Organization of American States (OAS) General Assembly.
During the visit, Landau will meet with President José Raúl Mulino, other senior foreign officials, and regional partners to advance U.S. priorities, including support for national sovereignty, secure borders, democratic governance, regional security, commercial competitiveness, and a more accountable OAS. The Deputy Secretary will also discuss enhanced cooperation to confront illegal immigration, transnational crime, and shared security challenges—such as those in Haiti and Nicaragua—while promoting a democratic transition in Venezuela, safeguarding Bolivia’s democracy, and fostering trusted economic partnerships.
Landau’s trip reflects the U.S. commitment to strengthening partnerships across the Western Hemisphere and advancing shared security and prosperity throughout the region.
