Derbyshire spinner Jack Morley has signed a two-year contract extension with the County Championship Division Two side.
The 24-year-old first joined Derbyshire on loan from Lancashire in March 2024 before making his move permanent with a two-year deal later the same year.
Morley, who has taken 110 wickets across all formats since debuting in 2020, described Derbyshire as the “perfect environment” for his development.
He is the club’s leading wicket taker in the T20 Blast this season, having claimed 10 scalps in six group games so far.
“I want to be someone who can contribute in all formats and this season has been a great opportunity for me to adapt to different situations and show what I can do when the pressure is on,” he told Derbyshire’s website.external
Derbyshire’s head of cricket Mickey Arthur, who has been able to rely on England spinner Shoaib Bashir to deliver wickets in the County Championship this term, said Morley is one of the club’s “most promising players”.
“He [Morley] grabbed the opportunity to bowl crucial overs in T20s with both hands and I’ve been so impressed with his desire to learn and improve with every performance,” Arthur said.
