Daniel Dubois cemented his standing among the world’s premier heavyweights with a decisive second‑round knockout of Fabio Wardley in their rematch, and fellow Briton Derek Chisora has identified the fighter he believes would pose the greatest test to ‘Triple D’.
Dubois dominated the clash at the O2 Arena on Saturday, launching an immediate, relentless assault on Wardley that resulted in a 17‑second knockdown. Wardley was unable to recover from that early blow.
Although Wardley absorbed extensive punishment in their first encounter five months earlier, the recent bout proved far shorter for the challenger. Trainer Ben Davison called a halt in the second round.
In comments to Jack Figg, Chisora suggested Wardley entered the fight unprepared.
“He didn’t train, let’s be honest, he didn’t train enough, he was not on point.”
“You have to give Fabio his credit because he is a kid from white‑collar boxing, he has come in and become a work champion from nothing. He beat Joseph Parker, he has travelled to Riyadh, he became a big star in London, now he works on DAZN. Boxing is done for him.”
‘Del Boy’ went on to state that, while he sees no current opponent capable of defeating Dubois, a potential rematch with Filip Hrgovic would be the most daunting option for his next fight.
“Right now, I don’t see anybody [beating Daniel Dubois]. Maybe somebody who might give him some trouble would be Hrgovic, but right now nobody can beat him.”
Dubois is expected to return to the ring in February 2027, though a clash with Hrgovic is unlikely given the latter’s scheduled title defence in Croatia against Cuba’s Frank Sanchez.
