Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell said last week that he couldn’t say anything “definitive” about running back Isiah Pacheco’s status for Week 1, but the picture cleared up on Tuesday.
Detroit Lions announced that running back Isiah Pacheco has been placed on injured reserve. Although Pacheco suffered a sprained MCL earlier in the summer, head coach Dan Campbell indicated that a back issue is currently the primary concern.
Regardless of the specific injury, Pacheco is expected to miss at least four games. Consequently, Jacob Saylors is slated to serve as the team’s second‑string running back behind Jahmyr Gibbs for the opening month of the season.
To occupy the vacant roster spot, the Lions signed tight end Tyler Conklin, who had been released just the previous Sunday.
Additionally, guard Elijah Klein and wide receiver Dominic Lovett were added to the practice squad.
