Rocco Baldelli joined the Dodgers’ front office in December after being dismissed by the Minnesota Twins mid-season. He reconnected with baseball operations president Andrew Friedman, with whom he previously collaborated during his tenure as a special assistant in Tampa Bay’s front office. Baldelli, who was fired by the Twins in the 2025 season, now risks leaving the Dodgers’ organization if the Seattle Mariners pursue him for their vacant managerial role.
The Mariners, who fired former manager Dan Wilson earlier this season, are reportedly considering Baldelli among several candidates, including Joe Espada, Brandon Hyde, and former Dodgers catcher David Ross. Baldelli’s career with the Twins includes a 527-505 record over seven seasons, three AL Central titles, and a 2019 AL Manager of the Year award. He also guided Minnesota to its first postseason series victory in nearly two decades in 2023. Should the Mariners hire him, Baldelli’s stint with the Dodgers could prove brief.
