Dominik Mysterio Turns Heel, Aligns with El Ojo After Betraying El Grande Americano

Dominik Mysterio returned to his villainous tactics over the weekend.

The Judgment Day member, who holds the AAA Mega Championship in Mexico’s AAA Lucha Libre, announced an alliance with El Grande Americano to oppose the villainous faction Los Perros del Mal.

A few weeks earlier, Dominik interrupted a backstage conversation between Americano and Rey Mysterio about the resurgence of Daga & Co., a group that had been harassing the masked luchador for weeks. Although Americano had allies in Rayo and Bravo, Dominik volunteered his assistance, which Americano welcomed.

Last week, Mysterio came to Americano’s aid when he was outnumbered by Los Perros in the main event. Afterwards, “Dirty” Dom challenged Daga to a tag team match, inviting him to choose any partner as he confirmed his partnership with Americano.

During the July 25 taping of Verano de Escándalo, Americano and Mysterio exchanged pleasantries backstage, aware that they are slated to meet on Night 2 of AAA Triplemania on September 13.

Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano launched their tag team bout against Daga and Angel Garza with strong momentum on Saturday.

The match featured hard‑hitting action and frequent tags, as the unevenly matched teams sought any advantage over one another.

At one moment, a fatigued Americano accidentally knocked Garza into the referee, sending the official sprawling out of the ring.

This opening allowed the remaining Los Perros del Mal members to assault Americano and Mysterio, with Bronco Nima driving Mysterio spine‑first into the exposed turnbuckle.

The heel quartet then focused on Americano while the AAA Mega Champion recovered outside, prompting Rayo and Bravo to rush to his aid; Bravo even climbed a lighting rig and launched himself onto those below.

As the brawl persisted, Bronco Nima dispatched the Los Americanos by driving them through the commentator’s desk.

Just as El Grande Americano crawled toward Dominik Mysterio for a tag, the Judgment Day member withdrew, leaving Americano stranded.

The contest concluded moments later when Los Perros del Mal secured the pin on Americano for the win.

A dejected Rey Mysterio voiced his frustration on commentary, and the arena crowd made sure their displeasure was heard.

What followed was even more shocking: as Dominik retreated backstage, he was met by El Ojo members Omos and Dorian Roldán, drawing further jeers from the audience.

It is conceivable that AAA Lucha Libre took this turn because of El Hijo del Vikingo’s recent injury, which will sideline him for several months.
