The Ebola epidemic in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo has become the second‑largest on record, with more than 2,100 deaths and the virus now spreading to a sixth province. Confronted by community resistance, misinformation, unpaid staff strikes, and threats from rebel groups, health workers are finding it increasingly difficult to contain the rapidly growing outbreak.
