Dragon Lee Shares Insights on Tagging with AJ Styles During His Final Championship Reign

Dragon Lee was a co‑champion alongside AJ Styles during the latter’s last title run, and he recently reflected on their partnership on WWE Raw. Styles and Lee captured the World Tag Team Championships from Judgment Day in October 2025, holding the belts for 70 days before dropping them to The Usos.

In an interview with Insight With Chris Van Vliet, Lee discussed working with Styles and their unofficial tag team nickname “AJ Lee,” which Styles dismissed on‑air saying “someone already has that one.” Highlights of the conversation are shown below:

On Styles:

“What a great story. He’s incredibly kind. Being a champion with him pushed me to the next level, and I’m truly grateful for everything I learned from him—not just as a performer but as a man and a father. When we won the titles, he grabbed me, crossed the championship over my shoulder, and I woke up realizing we’d done it. It was a moment I’ll never forget.”

On Being Part of Styles’ Last Title Run:

“I feel honored to have been part of his final matches, and even John Cena’s last appearance—I was there for that too. Knowing that I’ve accomplished things I can be proud of gives me the energy to keep going. When I look in the mirror I tell myself, ‘You’re doing well, keep working. I’m proud of you, brother.’ My family provides all the motivation I need.”

On the Fan‑Given Tag Team Name:

“Yeah, ‘AJ Lee,’ right? It was fun. We didn’t have much time to settle on a name, but I suggested ‘The Phenomenal Dragons.’ I think that would have been awesome—AJ Styles has his logo, and I imagined it wrapped like a dragon around it. Unfortunately, Styles didn’t have the time; he retired sooner than anyone expected.”
