Healthcare workers and officials are still warning that the Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of the Congo could become the most severe in history. On June 16, the director of Africa’s Centre for Disease Control and Prevention noted that tens of thousands of individuals who have been exposed to infected patients are currently not being traced, a situation that could surpass the 2014‑2016 West Africa outbreak, which claimed over 11,000 lives.
