Daniel Silver and Steven Cox have relocated for the summer to Mykonos, where they maintain a residence. The island’s rolling valleys and sea views appear to suit the designers well. On a video call, they described mornings spent walking into town for coffee, productive afternoons in the studio, and the deep satisfaction of watching their fig trees bloom. While the move isn’t permanent, the allure of the Greek lifestyle is undeniable.

This collection was conceived earlier in the year, born from a heady sense of anticipation. A sourcing trip to Clarence House on New York’s Upper East Side for fabrics to upholster furniture for their Mykonos home yielded the vibrant tropical prints used on cotton trousers, while a blouse lavishly embroidered with flowers was cut from a precious bolt of fabric the pair had saved for the right occasion. Even the enormous Tyvek bags used by contractors to haul building materials sparked an idea, inspiring a pair of giant totes; Cox models the white organza version in the brand’s new look book.

“If we stepped off the wheel when we stopped doing shows, we stepped off again coming here,” Cox remarked. Both designers anticipate that island living will profoundly influence their next collection. Experiencing Greece’s intense summer heat firsthand should prove advantageous as global temperatures rise—a reality underscored by the heat wave during the recent Paris men’s shows. However, Duckie Brown already possesses a firm grasp on what works practically and stylishly when the mercury climbs, evidenced by the breezy, billowy washed-silk button-down in a cherry-blossom-pink crepe de chine.
