Durst Group has signed an agreement to acquire MPS Printing, a Dutch manufacturer of flexographic printing systems serving the label and flexible packaging market.
MPS will become part of Durst Group on 1 January 2027 and will operate under the name MPS – A Durst Group Company.
The transaction is contingent on standard closing conditions and regulatory approvals, and the financial details have not been disclosed.
This acquisition represents another milestone in Durst’s strategy for the labels and flexible packaging segment.
Durst operates in digital printing, software, automation, and, together with packaging machine developer OMET, in hybrid production technologies.
MPS contributes flexographic printing technology, engineering expertise, and application know‑how to the combined group.
The deal will expand the technology portfolio, shorten development cycles, and accelerate market launch of integrated systems that combine digital and flexographic printing with software, automation, and finishing solutions.
Effective 1 January 2027, MPS will continue to develop, manufacture, and sell its existing range of flexographic printing systems under its new name.
The existing MPS management team will remain in place.
MPS CEO Michiel Borst will continue to lead the business and assume the position of managing director of MPS – A Durst Group Company, reporting to the Durst Group management structure.
Borst said, “MPS will retain its entrepreneurial approach, its customer focus and its commitment to flexographic innovation. Becoming part of the Durst Group gives us access to a broader technology platform, a global organization, and the long‑term perspective of a family‑owned company.”
He added, “This creates new opportunities for our customers, partners and employees, while building on the strengths and culture that have made MPS successful.”
MPS’s direct sales network in Europe will remain unchanged, while Durst US will assume sales and service responsibilities for the MPS portfolio in the United States.
MPS will leverage Durst’s international service and spare‑parts network to support customers in their local markets.
Durst’s existing partnership with OMET will continue independently of the MPS acquisition.
Durst and OMET jointly develop, manufacture, and market the KJet and XJet hybrid platforms, which integrate flexographic, digital printing and finishing capabilities.
Christoph Gamper, Durst Group CEO and co‑owner, said, “With MPS we are adding further flexographic expertise, technology and engineering capabilities to the Group. This provides additional integration opportunities and enables us to pursue complementary development paths in parallel.”
