A Dutch cryptocurrency analyst, Gert van Lagen, asserts that XRP is setting up for a move toward a $50 target. He grounds this thesis in a monthly chart analysis, identifying a symmetrical triangle pattern as the technical foundation.
Van Lagen dismisses skepticism around such projections, calling them “normal bull market dynamics.” He emphasizes that a two-time historical resistance level is flipping into support, potentially catalyzing a breakout from the symmetrical triangle structure.
XRP’s 8-Year Symmetrical Triangle Deciphered
The pattern traces back to 2018, with the $2.10 resistance level now drawing attention from bulls. Van Lagen points to monthly charts that mirror past scenarios, noting that in 2017, XRP/BTC climbed 50X in just two months from the current level to 0.00011—implying BTC at $450k and XRP at $50.
The prediction drew mixed responses on Crypto Twitter. User Crypto Berry labeled the $50 target “annoying” and “delusional,” while others cited “massive sell-walls at $32” as the main barrier.
Where The Difference Of Opinion Doesn’t Matter
Irrespective of opinion, van Lagen’s chart highlights resistance around $2.10 with rising support beneath recent trading levels. Still, the idea of XRP single-handedly reaching a $3 trillion market cap appears far-fetched, as that figure currently surpasses the total market capitalization of all digital assets.
$50? Are you fucking with us? When is this supposed to happen by?

While some enthusiasts dismiss the symmetrical triangle theory as “pure hopium,” the notion aligns with Santiment Intelligence research showing XRP received its most negative commentary since mid-2025—a potential indicator of an impending trend reversal.
