HAMBURG, Germany — Dutch horticultural exporters are recalibrating their commercial strategy in China, moving away from the sale of complete greenhouse structures. As Chinese domestic manufacturers have rapidly advanced in construction capabilities, Netherlands-based suppliers are concentrating on high-value intellectual property and services, including advanced technology, proprietary software, and system integration—segments where they continue to hold a significant edge. This strategic pivot aligns with intensifying Chinese consumer demand for fruits and vegetables grown in controlled environments, perceived as safer and cleaner.
