E. Jean Carroll Receives $5.6 Million from Trump in Sexual Abuse and Defamation Verdict

Writer E. Jean Carroll has collected the $5.6 million jury award from Donald Trump in her sexual abuse and defamation lawsuit, court records and her legal team confirmed.

The payment, which includes $5 million from the 2023 verdict plus accumulated interest, was disbursed Monday from an escrow account where the funds had been held since the ruling, per official documents.

Carroll’s attorney, Roberta Kaplan, verified receipt of the payment Tuesday, stating, “We are pleased to confirm that Ms. Carroll has received the full damages award.”

Trump’s legal representatives have maintained their appeal efforts despite the payment being finalized.

Following the jury’s decision in July 2023, Trump deposited the funds into an escrow account. The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the verdict enabled Judge Lewis A. Kaplan to authorize the release of the monies.

Trump’s legal team attempted but failed to secure an emergency court order to halt the payment, which came without any stipulations on how Carroll may utilize the funds. Her legal representatives indicated in official filings that she intends to allocate the payment toward retirement savings.
