Wheat markets showed mixed trading on Monday, with the overall wheat complex experiencing pressure heading into the weekend. Chicago SRF futures fell 8¼ to 16¼ cents across the board, while December contracts slipped 6½ cents for the week. Open interest rose by 2,801 contracts on Friday. KC HRW futures also weakened, dropping 10 to 20¼ cents, with December down 8¾ cents from the prior week. Open interest increased by 2,202 contracts. MPLS spring wheat contracts were pressured, falling 12½ to 20¼ cents, though December remained steady. September futures are set to expire today.

USDA maintained its production estimate unchanged this month, awaiting the Small Grains Summary slated for release on September 30. All other balance‑sheet figures, including a steady carryout of 717 million bushels, remained unchanged.

Globally, wheat stocks rose by 3.04 million metric tons to 276.29 million metric tons. Meanwhile, Russian and Ukrainian export volumes were each reduced by 4 million metric tons. Australia’s output increased by 3 million metric tons, and Canada’s rose by 1 million metric ton.

Export sales data, delayed by the Monday holiday, showed 2026/27 wheat sales of 194,233 metric tons for the week ending September 3—well below analysts’ expectations of 250,000 to 500,000 metric tons. The figure represented a 37.64 % decline from the previous year and a 36.39 % drop from the same week a year earlier.

CFTC weekly data indicated that large speculators trimmed 10,392 contracts from their net long position in Chicago wheat futures and options, reducing it to 4,262 contracts as of September 3. In Kansas City, speculators added 964 contracts, boosting their net long to 51,248 contracts on Tuesday.

September 26 CBOT Wheat closed at $7.07, down 16¼ cents, unchanged thereafter.

December 26 CBOT Wheat closed at $7.25¼, down 16 cents, up 4 cents at the time of writing.

September 26 KCBT Wheat closed at $7.84, down 7¾ cents, unchanged thereafter.

December 26 KCBT Wheat closed at $7.98½, down 20¼ cents, down 0.5 cents at the time of writing.

September 26 MIAX Wheat closed at $7.30¼, up 3¼ cents, unchanged thereafter.

December 26 MIAX Wheat closed at $7.45, down 17½ cents, up 2¼ cents at the time of writing.
