Eddie Hearn believes Anthony Joshua will aim for the most significant challenge available should he overcome Tyson Fury later this year.

The two British fighters are scheduled to meet in November, provided Joshua defeats Kristian Prenga in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on July 25.

Fury is also expected to tune up with a bout possibly in August, ending a 16‑month layoff after his unanimous‑decision win over Arslanbek Makhmudov in April.

If both heavyweights win and stay relatively injury‑free, their long‑awaited domestic showdown should finally take place.

For Joshua, the prevailing ambition at this point in his career is to capture a third world title.

A victory over Fury would bring him one step closer to that goal, potentially securing any of the four major championships.

The 36‑year‑old is ranked inside the top ten by every sanctioning body, and with Oleksandr Usyk having vacated the WBC, IBF and WBA belts, there may be an opening for his stablemate to claim one of those vacant straps.

Matchroom promoter Hearn, however, thinks Joshua would be keen to avenge his loss to Daniel Dubois, who stopped him in the fifth round of their September 2024 encounter.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Hearn acknowledged that, while his role is to steer Joshua toward the most straightforward title opportunity, the final decision rests with the fighter himself.

“[Dubois] would probably be his choice. There will be easier chances, maybe, to win a world title.

“But that’s my job [to secure the easiest fight]and ultimately [Joshua’s] the boss and he’s going to do what he wants to do.”

While a Joshua rematch could materialise in 2027, Dubois must first defend his WBO title in a rematch with Fabio Wardley later this year.
