EDGE Launches Cyber Defense Center of Excellence in Partnership with Brazil

BEIRUT — Emirati defense conglomerate EDGE Group announced the launch of a Cyber Defense Centre of Excellence (COE) in partnership with the Brazilian army, the first such center in South America.

The centre will operate under a tripartite model that brings together government, industry, and academia. It reflects an equal, strategic commitment by the two founding institutions to create a permanent, internationally benchmarked organization that serves Brazil’s cybersecurity requirements and supports the broader region.

The COE will provide specialized services to the Brazilian army and federal agencies, including training, incident response, research and development of cyber‑defence doctrine and capabilities, and the advancement of cutting‑edge cyber‑defence solutions.

According to EDGE CEO Hamad Al Marar, the centre will integrate advanced technology, operational expertise and shared knowledge to build sustainable capability and establish Brazil as a leading cyber‑excellence hub in Latin America, drawing on best practices such as those of the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence.

EDGE also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Brazilian navy to create a framework for technical cooperation focused on maritime monitoring, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities. In April, the company entered into an agreement with the navy to strengthen cyber defence capabilities and to develop a framework that enhances maritime and critical‑infrastructure cybersecurity.
