RIYADH: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on Tuesday reiterated his country’s staunch opposition to any threat targeting the security of the Kingdom and the Gulf states, emphasizing that Gulf security is an integral component of Arab national security.

The statement came during a telephone conversation between Abdelatty and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan. During their discussion, the two ministers reviewed regional developments and explored avenues to contain ongoing tensions and prevent the further expansion of regional conflicts, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Both officials underscored the critical need for continuous coordination and consultation, highlighting their support for initiatives aimed at de-escalation, promoting dialogue, and pursuing diplomatic resolutions to safeguard regional stability.

Separately, Prince Faisal also held a phone call with his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani. In their discussion, the two sides reviewed regional developments and emphasized the importance of supporting diplomatic efforts to achieve comprehensive solutions. These efforts aim to ensure the safety of international waterways, protect freedom of navigation, and bolster security and stability across the region.
