Egypt reiterates opposition to Palestinian displacement during talks with US Jewish organizations

During the UN General Assembly, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s opposition to the displacement of Palestinians in meetings with representatives of several American Jewish organizations, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said.

The meeting took place while Abdelatty was attending the high‑level segment of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s strategic partnership with the United States and expressed Cairo’s desire to expand bilateral cooperation in fields of mutual interest, the ministry added.

The discussions covered broader Middle‑East developments, with Abdelatty stressing that regional conflicts should be resolved through diplomatic and political means.

He noted that peaceful settlements are essential for enhancing regional and international security and stability.

Abdelatty cited the Egypt‑Israel peace treaty as an illustration of Egypt’s long‑standing strategic commitment to pursuing peace in the region.

The Israeli‑Palestinian conflict was a central topic, and Abdelatty reinforced Egypt’s opposition to any displacement of Palestinians while outlining Cairo’s diplomatic initiatives concerning the Gaza war.

According to the ministry, Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s coordination with international mediators aimed at de‑escalating the situation in Gaza, securing a ceasefire, and advancing further diplomatic steps.

He also referenced the Sharm El‑Sheikh peace summit held the previous year as part of Egypt’s broader efforts to foster a political resolution to the conflict.
