Egyptian Bus Accident Claims Minimum of 16 Lives

At least 16 individuals died after a bus overturned in Egypt on Wednesday, according to the nation’s health ministry.

The vehicle was traveling between Dahab and Nuweiba, two well‑known Red Sea resort towns located in the Sinai Peninsula along the Gulf of Aqaba.

An additional 28 people sustained injuries in the accident, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, a ministry spokesperson, announced. Emergency services dispatched 20 ambulances to the site.

The ministry has not disclosed the nationalities of those killed or injured, and the cause of the crash remains undetermined. Nevertheless, several Jordanians were among the victims, according to Jordan’s foreign ministry.

This incident contributes to a series of fatal bus accidents in Egypt. In 2023, at least 32 people lost their lives and 63 were injured in a collision between a bus and multiple vehicles north of Cairo.
