Jerusalem, June 11 — Elbit Systems announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Diehl Defence to provide the SkyStriker loitering munition to the German Armed Forces.
The announcement, made at the Berlin Air Show, aligns with a wider effort by Elbit and other Israeli companies to capitalize on rising European defense spending. Elbit said the agreement includes local manufacturing and assembly of the system with Diehl, aimed at developing sovereign capabilities and bolstering the German defense industry.
The collaboration is intended to satisfy Germany’s increasing demand for advanced loitering munition systems, enhancing autonomous precision‑strike and reconnaissance capabilities, according to an Elbit statement.
The SkyStriker was first unveiled in 2017 at the Paris Air Show. It offers a range exceeding 200 km and can carry up to 10 kg of munitions, according to the company. It exemplifies Israel’s long‑standing development of loitering munitions, a field that has gained heightened focus after the Ukraine war and Israel’s recent operations in Gaza.
Previously sold to several unnamed European countries, SkyStriker can be integrated with other Elbit platforms, including the EuroPULS rocket launcher, the company noted. In 2023, KNDS and Elbit entered a teaming agreement for EuroPULS as demand for precision artillery grew in Europe. Elbit announced in 2025 that it had secured a contract to supply the PULS system to the German armed forces.
Bezhalel Machlis, President and CEO of Elbit Systems, said in a statement that by combining Diehl’s extensive system‑integration expertise and production capabilities with Elbit’s advanced loitering‑munition technology, they will deliver a powerful, future‑ready solution for the German Armed Forces, describing the partnership as strategic.
Helmut Rauch, CEO of Diehl Defence, said in a statement that the partnership with Elbit systems is intended to enhance Germany’s loitering‑munition capabilities and strengthen both sovereign defense development and the German defense industry.
