Since its 2022 debut, Elden Ring has maintained a commanding presence across the gaming landscape. The title’s influence has expanded through the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, the roguelike spin-off Elden Ring: Nightreign, a graphic novel series, and an upcoming live-action film — cementing its status as FromSoftware’s magnum opus.
Remarkably, the franchise has yet to reach its fifth anniversary. While fans speculate on future celebrations, a tangible new release arrives this month: a tabletop RPG built specifically around Nightreign, developed by the same team behind the acclaimed Dark Souls tabletop RPG.
Launching June 19, Elden Ring Nightreign TRPG arrives from publisher Group SNE. The 2025 video game spin-off reimagined the Lands Between as a cooperative roguelike, pitting teams against iconic bosses across the reimagined Limveld map. Critics praised its inventive structure; our review awarded it 9/10, calling it “a sandbox of joy and doom.”
Translating that experience to tabletop format is a natural evolution. Elden Ring Nightreign TRPG tasks 1–3 players with conquering the evils lurking throughout Limveld, mirroring the video game’s cooperative boss encounters. However, the initial release is Japan-exclusive — though precedent suggests an English localization may follow, as seen with other major gaming TTRPG adaptations.

Adapting Nightreign‘s fast, punishing combat to a pen-and-paper system presents design challenges. Yet the rich world-building of Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin provides a robust foundation for translation. Early indications suggest the TRPG leverages that depth to deliver a faithful analogue experience.
For now, international fans can only await news of a western release. If the Japanese launch succeeds, the path to localization seems all but assured — bringing another dimension of the Lands Between to tables worldwide.
