Ella Langley Makes History as ‘Choosin’ Texas’ Sets New Billboard Hot 100 Record with 23 Weeks at No. 1

Ella Langley has made chart history as her country hit “Choosin’ Texas” spends its 23rd week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, officially breaking the all-time record for the longest-running No. 1 single in U.S. chart history. The milestone previously belonged to Mariah Carey’s perennial holiday classic, “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”

For over two decades, Mariah Carey’s “One Sweet Day,” a collaboration with Boyz II Men from her 1995 album Daydream, held the record with 16 weeks at No. 1. The benchmark was later tied by the remix of Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” featuring Justin Bieber in 2017, before Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” ultimately surpassed it in 2019 with 19 weeks at the summit.

Lil Nas X’s historic run remained unchallenged for years until late 2024, when Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” matched the 19-week record. Throughout this period, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” experienced a seasonal resurgence every holiday cycle since 2019, gradually accumulating weeks at the top until reclaiming its crown last year.

Langley released “Choosin’ Texas” in October 2025 as the lead single from her third studio album, Dandelion. The track debuted on the Billboard charts the following month and reached its peak position in February. Additionally, the album Dandelion dominated the charts, securing the No. 1 spot for two consecutive weeks in April.
