As the music industry shifts toward streaming, individual song downloads have taken a backseat to long-term chart performance. In the current landscape, it takes fewer downloads to remain atop the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart. Throughout much of 2026, Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has maintained its reign at the summit, solidifying its status as one of the most successful tracks in the chart’s history.
Langley’s Hit Dominates for a Sixteenth Consecutive Week
“Choosin’ Texas” continues to lead the Digital Song Sales chart for a sixteenth straight week. According to Luminate, the track moved an additional 7,200 copies during the latest tracking period. Although this represents a decrease of approximately 700 copies from the previous week, the total remains significantly higher than that of the number two song.
“Choosin’ Texas” Ties “Old Town Road” For Fourth-Longest Reign
After 16 weeks at No. 1, “Choosin’ Texas” is now tied as the fourth-longest-running leader in the history of the Digital Song Sales chart. Langley’s hit matches the 16-week reign of “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus, which achieved the same feat just over five years ago.
Ella Langley Poised to Break New Ground Soon
Should “Choosin’ Texas” reclaim the top spot next week, or return to it after a brief absence, Langley’s track will extend its reign to seventeen weeks at No. 1. This would tie the record set by “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, and Justin Bieber, which spent the same amount of time atop the chart in 2017.
The all-time record for the most weeks at No. 1 belongs to BTS, who have accomplished the feat twice. “Dynamite” led the chart for 18 weeks between 2020 and 2021, and just months after that streak ended, “Butter” also ruled for 18 weeks in 2021.
“Choosin’ Texas” Tops Five Billboard Charts
“Choosin’ Texas” currently appears on 11 Billboard charts and sits at No. 1 on five of them. Beyond the Digital Song Sales tally, the country anthem leads the Billboard Hot 100, Streaming Songs, Hot Country Songs, and Country Streaming Songs charts.
Langley’s Hit Reaches New Highs on Global Charts
“Choosin’ Texas” has also surged to its highest positions on both of Billboard’s global rankings. The track climbs to No. 2 on the Billboard Global 200 and No. 38 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., with the former measuring worldwide consumption including the U.S., and the latter excluding American activity.
