The Kings of CBS are poised to reclaim their spotlight. On October 8, the new series Cupertino, created by Robert and Michelle King, debuts. This legal thriller reunites the duo with Evil alum Mike Colter and aims to extend the Good Wife pair’s winning streak on the network. The show follows two lawyers who, after being wronged by Silicon Valley moguls, launch a firm to defend those exploited by powerful tech corporations—putting themselves in the line of fire. Before they tackle their first case, however, the beloved pink‑clad investigator returns to solve a fresh murder, with a Tony Award–winning guest star in her crosshairs.
After a turbulent romance with a mayoral candidate and appearances by guest stars ranging from Stephen Colbert to Patti LuPone in Season 3, Elsbeth returns in Season 4, maintaining her signature optimism and stylish wardrobe. The season opener, titled “Crazy in Love,” plunges her into the complex realm of marriage counseling as she investigates a new case. Her first stop is Serena Collyer, portrayed by former Pussycat Dolls lead vocalist and Sunset Boulevard Broadway star Nicole Scherzinger. Though Serena appears composed and collected, Elsbeth’s keen instincts suggest a darker, more murderous side lurking beneath the surface. Before she can uncover the truth, however, Elsbeth finds herself momentarily star‑struck by the celebrated counselor.
Collider exclusively shares a sneak preview of the season‑four premiere, capturing Elsbeth’s first visit to Serena’s “sanctuary” alongside Detective Bobby Smullen (Danny Mastrogiorgio). The contrast is immediate: Elsbeth’s methodical, monotone approach clashes with Serena’s vibrant atmosphere as she attempts to make the introductions, prompting Elsbeth to hop over decorative pillows to shake her hand. Known for crossing paths with notable New York figures, Elsbeth is especially impressed by Serena, whose radio program has earned her admiration. So captivated is she that she nearly trips over the pillows scattered on the floor. While Serena is busy preparing for an upcoming relationship workshop, the pair divert her attention to a client central to their investigation. After a brief pause, she admits she cannot attest to the client’s alleged “transformation,” labeling him a hotheaded ticking time bomb wed to a woman described as sexually compulsive and commitment‑phobic. There’s a suggestion that Serena may know more about the man than she reveals.
Wedding Bells Set to Ring in Elsbeth Season 4
Beyond the weekly case, Elsbeth’s Season 4 premiere brings personal milestones. Following Teddy’s (Ben Levi Ross) proposal to his partner Roy (Hayward Leach) in the Season 3 finale, Elsbeth finds herself immersed in wedding preparations whenever she’s off duty. The episode “Crazy in Love” will show Teddy finalizing the date for his upcoming nuptials. The installment also marks the return of Gloria Reuben as Claudia, the wife of Captain Wagner (Wendell Pierce). While the specifics of her involvement remain uncertain, her appearance enriches a storyline centered on love, relationships—and, inevitably, murder.
Elsbeth Season 4 debuts tomorrow, October 8, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Be sure to watch the exclusive sneak peek in the player above.
