Republic of Ireland international Emily Murphy is on the brink of signing for Women’s Super League side Brighton.
The 23‑year‑old finished last season as Newcastle’s leading scorer in the second division, netting six goals and providing four assists across 15 starts, and still has a year left on her contract.
Sources confirm that the player is in advanced talks with Brighton, with Newcastle expected to receive a fee that could set a new club record.
Murphy previously competed in the WSL with Birmingham City and Chelsea and has also spent time in the United States.
She has become a mainstay for the Republic of Ireland squad since her 2024 debut, starting five of the national team’s six Women’s World Cup qualifying fixtures this year.
Brighton have already secured five new signings this summer as they build on a season that saw them reach the Women’s FA Cup final.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are reportedly looking to replace Murphy with a new attacking recruit, having already made three additions to the squad.
