England bowlers delivered a devastating performance, reducing Team India to their lowest-ever T20I score in a clinical 125-run defeat at Trent Bridge on Tuesday.
India Collapses to Lowest T20I Total
In one of their most humiliating batting performances, India were bowled out for just 76 runs in 11.4 overs. The dismissal came despite chasing a commanding 202-run target on a batting-friendly surface at Trent Bridge.
England’s pace duo of Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue demolished the Indian batting lineup with remarkable efficiency. Archer claimed three wickets for 29 runs from three overs, earning him the player of the match award, while Tongue justified his selection with figures of four for 28.
The numerical scale of the defeat was staggering. India’s 76-run total marked only their second-lowest score in T20I history, while the 125-run margin represented their largest-ever defeat in the format.
England Posts imposing 201-7
Chasing the demanding target, India’s much-vaunted batting lineup collapsed spectacularly. The loss extended India’s winless streak to five matches—the first time such a drought has occurred—and left them reeling at the bottom of the five-match series, trailing 0-2 with just two games remaining.
India captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first—a decision that backfired spectacularly as England capitalized on the opportunity to post a substantial total.
Phil Salt spearheaded England’s batting performance with an explosive 70 off 44 deliveries, featuring seven fours and three sixes. His opening partnership with Jos Buttler, who scored 36 off 21 balls, yielded 43 runs for the first wicket before Prince Yadav broke through for India.
