England’s Pacers Dominate India with 125-Run Victory in Record T20I Defeat]
England 201 for 7 (Salt 70, Curran 41*, Prince 2-32) beat India 76 (Tongue 4-28, Archer 3-29) by 125 runs
England delivered a decisive performance at Trent Bridge, delivering India their largest-ever T20I defeat. Chasing 202, India managed only 76, marking their second-lowest total in the format. The visitors’ struggles continued as they collapsed to 52 for 5 in the early stages, with Josh Tongue (4-28) and Jofra Archer (3-29) sharing devastating opening-rate bowling figures.
Phil Salt top-scored with a gritty 70 off 44 balls, while Sam Curran contributed 41* off 24 deliveries, powering England to 201 for 7. Despite the total appearing modest, India’s batting unit failed to build any meaningful momentum, with no batter reaching double figures beyond a single dismissal.
The defeat represents England’s first victory over India in T20Is, ending a 16-match unbeaten streak for the touring side. With two matches remaining in the series, India face elimination from the contest if they fail to recover.
India captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to field first, reversing the decision that cost them in the first match. However, the choice backfired dramatically as England’s pace duo controlled proceedings throughout their innings.
