Injuries force Quansah and James to miss England’s World Cup clash with DR Congo
Both players skipped Tuesday’s training ahead of the Atlanta fixture, which airs on BBC One and iPlayer.
Manager Thomas Tuchel may deploy Djed Spence or redirect Ezri Konsa from defense to cover right-back.
Tuchel noted Quansah’s ankle injury recovery is advancing faster than James’s hamstring issue, though both faced tight selection battles.
Quansah sustained his injury during England’s 2-0 win over Panama, replaced by Spence. James missed Canada’s previous match due to a hamstring problem.
Tuchel initially considered James for the DR Congo game but finalized his unavailability.
Squad balance concerns emerged after Tino Livramento’s calf injury led to Trevoh Chalobah’s inclusion as a central defender option.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, once part of Tuchel’s setup, remained unselected due to prior injuries.
