
The European Union is striving to bolster its strategic autonomy in a world marked by geopolitical tension, viewing technological self‑reliance as essential to counter external pressures. The Commission notes that non‑EU firms provide over 80 % of the bloc’s digital products and services. To address this reliance, an initiative known as the “Tech Sovereignty Package” was launched in early June. In this edition, experts examine the underlying geopolitical context and explore the measures required for Europe to achieve genuine technological sovereignty.
