The United States and Iran escalated their conflict Wednesday, with Tehran retaliating against US bases following American airstrikes on Iranian bases. Tensions flared after an American Apache helicopter was downed in the Strait of Hormuz.

“The General Staff of the Army announces that Kuwaiti air defence systems are currently engaging hostile aerial targets in accordance with established operational procedures,” the Kuwaiti army posted on X. Iran claimed its strikes also targeted Bahrain and Jordan.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said its “self-defense strikes against Iran” targeted “iranians air defense, ground control stations, and surveillance radar sites.”

Trump announced that Iran had shot down a US helicopter during patrol, stating America “must, of necessity, respond to this attack.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned, “Iranian forces will leave no attack or threat unanswered. Leave our region if you want to be safe.”

The downing of the Apache helicopter and subsequent strikes further strained a two-month ceasefire after a rare exchange of fire between Iran and Israel on Tuesday.
