These trains, manufactured by Alstom Group, will feature enhanced thermal resilience capabilities while maintaining identical passenger configurations to their predecessors.

Slated for 2031 deployment through the Channel Tunnel and UK rail networks, the 200-meter trains will accommodate 540 passengers across two levels – a 20% capacity increase. The upgraded climate control systems will specifically target functional integrity at 55°C, a threshold projected to become routine based on current warming trends.

Recent heat-related disruptions, including coordinated cancellations of four morning services between London St Pancras and Paris Gare du Nord on June 25, 2026, have underscored urgent infrastructure needs.
