A 90-year-old woman has died in hospital nearly a year after sustaining serious wounds in the Bondi Beach shooting, authorities confirmed on Friday.
Eva Geller was among dozens of people injured when two gunmen opened fire on a crowd during a Jewish holiday celebration at Sydney’s Bondi Beach on December 14 last year.
Geller, a Holocaust survivor from Hungary, had been in and out of hospital following her wounds sustained in the terror attack, ABC reported.
“She just never really recovered, and it was a couple of weeks ago she ended up in the Prince of Wales [hospital] and that was the end,” Rabbi Aron Moss told ABC.
She passed away in a Sydney hospital overnight.

Moss told ABC that Geller had just made it to her 90th birthday and showed “incredible strength.”
“She was told after being shot that she will never walk again by the doctors,” he told ABC. “But through sheer determination, she got back up, and she did walk again.”
Authorities confirmed they were aware of the passing.
“Police are now awaiting further advice and are working with the office of the coroner,” New South Wales police said.
The attack claimed 15 lives, marking Australia’s deadliest mass shooting in decades.
Police allege that the gunmen, Sajid Akram and his son Naveed Akram, were inspired by the Islamic State.
Sajid Akram was shot dead at the scene, while his son Naveed Akram, who survived being shot, faces 15 murder charges and a terror offense.
A government-backed inquiry into antisemitism, convened in the wake of the attack, is scheduled to deliver its findings on December 18.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed sorrow upon learning of Eva Geller’s passing.
“Almost a year on, the devastation of that awful day continues to cause pain for families, and today we recognize that more than ever.”
“We are wrapping our arms around Eva’s family, friends and the Jewish community at this very sad time.”
Eva Geller’s funeral is scheduled for next week, ABC reported.
