Remco Evenepoel claimed victory in the individual time trial on Stage 16 of the Tour de France, solidifying his second‑place position in the general classification. The Belgian three‑time world time‑trial champion topped the 28.5 km route between Évian and Thonon by 28 seconds over Tadej Pogacar, with Mattias Skjelmose finishing a further minute‑four seconds behind. Evenepoel now trails the yellow‑jersey wearer Pogacar by 4’32”, a margin he hopes to close in the upcoming Alpine stages.

Stage 17 will see the peloton travel 174.7 km from Chambéry to Voiron, offering sprinters a final chance to score before the high‑altitude challenges in the Alps.
