Jack Grealish has been excluded from Everton’s Carabao Cup fourth-round tie against Newcastle United following a violation of club regulations.

The club disclosed the decision via social media, stating alongside the match lineup that Grealish will not be selected due to an internal disciplinary matter. The announcement read: “Jarrad Branthwaite remains sidelined for a second consecutive game because of concussion protocols, while Jack Grealish is unavailable for selection due to a breach of club discipline.”

According to reports, Grealish failed to attend training on Monday without authorization, prompting manager David Moyes and chief executive Angus Kinnear to jointly decide on his removal from the squad.

After Everton’s 3-1 victory over Newcastle, Moyes addressed the media, stating, “I’m not going to give any details. It was a club decision and I support it. I don’t want to speak too much about it.”

Grealish rejoined team training at Finch Farm after missing the previous session, but is expected to face a financial penalty for his unauthorized absence. The midfielder had previously missed Everton’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal on Saturday due to illness.

The 31-year-old international rejoined Everton on loan from Manchester City this summer and started all four matches under Moyes before the Arsenal fixture. Everton previously paid £12 million for his loan last season and are covering a similar fee for the current campaign. Grealish is set to become a free agent when his City contract expires at season’s end.
