Mike Hill, the former athletic director at UNC Charlotte, has been named vice president of men’s basketball at the NCAA, where he will oversee March Madness and the Final Four.

Hill was let go from Charlotte in October 2025 after seven years leading the program, with the university citing a need for “a new approach and renewed strategic foundation.”

In March, former Clemson deputy athletic director Kevin White succeeded Hill as Charlotte’s AD.

Speaking with the Charlotte Business Journal, Hill called the NCAA role “an incredible opportunity” and “a fantastic next step,” adding that March Madness remains “one of the great sporting events in the world.”
