BERLIN — Emergency services rushed to the scene of an explosion Wednesday morning near Augsburg’s central train station in southern Germany, according to the dpa press agency.

Authorities confirmed that an unidentified object detonated within a building passageway adjacent to the station. The blast resulted in minor injuries to several individuals and caused damage to nearby windows.

Police reported significant disruptions to both road traffic and public transportation networks surrounding the station. Access restrictions have also been implemented within the station itself as the investigation continues.
