Formula 1 leadership has approved modifications to the sport’s engine regulations for the 2027 and 2028 seasons, resulting in a strategic increase in internal combustion output.
While the 2026 regulations established an equal 50-50 power split between the internal combustion engine and the electrical recovery system within the V6 hybrid units, the balance will shift to 58/42 in favor of combustion for 2027. This trend will continue into 2028, where the split is set to increase further to 60/40.
