Families Continue Searching for Victims One Month After Venezuela Earthquakes

Families in Venezuela are still searching for the remains of their loved ones, lost amid the rubble of collapsed apartment buildings along the La Guaira coastline, the area most severely affected by the twin earthquakes that struck on 24 June.

According to government officials, the death toll has risen above 5,300, while estimates suggest that as many as 50,000 people remain missing.

The BBC’s Latin America correspondent, Will Grant, visited the towns of La Guaira shortly after the tremors began and later returned to observe families persisting in their search for missing relatives a month after the disasters.
