LAHORE — Rescue 1122 confirmed that two individuals lost their lives and nine others were injured due to rain-related incidents in Punjab over the past 24 hours.
The agency’s spokesperson, Farooq Ahmad, attributed the casualties to the collapse of walls, roofs, and a billboard, caused by strong winds and heavy rains.
In Attock, a wall collapse near Naya Pump claimed two lives and injured three people. Separately, the roof of a house in Para Shaheen Bagh gave way, injuring three more residents.
In Khushab’s Qaidabad area, one person was struck by lightning and sustained injuries. A signboard collapse in Sargodha, driven by high winds, injured another individual.
Sheikhupura saw an additional injury when a wooden roof collapsed on Chak Risala Road. Rescue 1122 dispatched emergency teams to all sites and transported the injured to local hospitals.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that Mandi Bahauddin recorded the highest rainfall, 23 mm between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Wednesday. Murree received 17 mm, while Hafizabad and Sheikhupura logged 14 mm each.
Other regions experienced moderate rainfall: Gujranwala (11 mm), Lahore Airport (10 mm), Gujrat (10 mm), Garhi Dupatta (10 mm), Lahore (6 mm), Jhelum (6 mm), Mangla (5 mm), Kakul (4 mm), Balakot (4 mm), Barkhan (4 mm), Islamabad Zero Point (4 mm), Chaklala (4 mm), Kotli (3 mm), Malam Jabba (3 mm), Pattan (1 mm), Chakwal (1 mm), and Dera Ghazi Khan (1 mm).
