FedEx Freight Holding to Join Dow Jones Transportation Average, Replacing American Airlines in Index Restructuring]
FedEx Freight Holding Company (FDXF) will replace American Airlines Group Inc. (AAL) in the Dow Jones Transportation Average, with the change taking effect prior to the open of trading on June 1, 2026. The addition comes as part of a corporate restructuring where parent company FedEx Corporation (FDX) is spinning off FedEx Freight Holding Company, with the transaction expected to close on the same date. Following the spin-off, FedEx Corp. will remain a constituent in the DJTA.
The Dow Jones Transportation Average operates as a price-weighted index, meaning that companies with lower stock prices have a diminished impact on the overall index performance. S&P Dow Jones Indices, which manages the average, is a division of S&P Global (SPGI).
