Feist Inducted Into Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, Celebrated with Covers by Tweedy, Finneas, and Cornfield

Last night, Leslie Feist was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame at Massey Hall in Toronto, alongside honorees the Tragically Hip, Loverboy’s Mike Reno and Paul Dean, and pop singer-songwriter Roch Voisine.

Inducted by Grammy-winning producer Finneas, Feist received heartfelt praise. “Leslie is so many of your favourite artists’ favourite artist,” Finneas said. “She has the most beautiful voice I can imagine, writes lyrics and melodies that have moved me to tears, and makes my wife and I dance in our kitchen for years. She also kicks ass at the guitar.”

A musical tribute followed, with Charlotte Cornfield opening with “How Come You Never Go There,” Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy performing “The Park,” and Finneas closing with “My Moon My Man.” That cover was released Friday as an Amazon Music Original.

Feist has collaborated with Tweedy on “You And I” from Wilco (The Album) and with Cornfield on “Living With It” from Hurts Like Hell.
