Ferdinand Secures His First Coaching Position at Hornchurch
Ferdinand takes a pivotal step in his career by joining National League newcomers Hornchurch, marking the club’s second major high-profile hiring this summer after appointing Robert Lee as director of football.
Anton Ferdinand, a former West Ham United defender and brother to Manchester United and England U21 midfielder Rio Ferdinand, has announced his move to the club. The 41-year-old will join the team as the first-team coach under Hornchurch boss Daryl McMahon.
Ferdinand expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, stating that he is eager to build on the club’s achievements and contribute to advancing their position. He emphasized his commitment to both learning from McMahon and utilizing his extensive 20-year playing career to help the team achieve its next milestone.
The signing comes after a period of transition for the club, with the appointment of former Newcastle United and England player Robert Lee to the football department. Ferdinand’s arrival underscores Hornchurch’s ambition to strengthen its development pathway in the National League.
