Emi Funayama’s hair has grown significantly, prompting her to consider a trim soon.
The elongated bob introduces a softer aesthetic to the Fetico designer, aligning with the collection’s gentler theme. Hosted in the misty-lit Yodobashi Church, the show presented a refined, relaxed interpretation of Fetico’s iconic allure, emphasizing translucent fabrics that flowed gracefully across the body.
Inspired by Sarah Moon’s photography, Funayama sought to capture a romantic, ethereal ambiance. She selected materials with ” supple drape that felt soft to the touch,” aiming for an “interesting interplay between transparency and shadow,” which evoked a nuanced, imaginative world.
The collection also prioritized tailoring, featuring voluminous, nip-waisted suits intended to become brand staples. These were paired with sharp-collared, statement-cuffed shirts, asymmetric camisole dresses, and cutout petal details revealing glimpses of skin, all enhanced by leather accents and lace elements that defined the cinematic, bold looks.
“A mysterious quality arises when things aren’t fully visible, encouraging viewers to imagine,” noted Funayama. The designer, adept at sartorial allure, understands that subtle suggestions often surpass explicit details—in this case, effortlessly achieved.”
