The governments of the United States, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guyana, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Trinidad and Tobago issued the following joint declaration.

Participating nations in the Shield of the Americas initiative commend Bolivia for decisive operations targeting narcotrafficking, rooting out corruption, and holding enablers to account. The coalition urges continued investigation and prosecution of these criminal networks. Recent high-profile law enforcement actions against current and former senior officials tied to drug trafficking deliver an unambiguous signal: democratically elected governments across the hemisphere will no longer tolerate illicit influence, regardless of how high it reaches.

At the historic Shield of the Americas leaders’ summit on September 22, the fifteen member states stood united in an unwavering commitment to defend democratic institutions and safeguard regional security against the corrosive reach of narco-terrorist organizations.

Today, the coalition stands firmly with Bolivia.
