The song appears in the thriller miniseries starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Annette Bening
Fiona Apple has returned with a new song for the Apple TV miniseries Lucky, now available for streaming.
“Horns of a Bull” incorporates percussion and a distinctive bark reminiscent of the sounds in Fetch the Bolt Cutters. The track is brooding and urgent, repeatedly chanting, “my daddy put my crib under Damocles’ sword.”
*Lucky* premiered its first episode on Apple TV+ today (July 15). The series adapts Marissa Stapley’s 2021 novel, following a con artist (Anya Taylor‑Joy) evading federal authorities and a crime boss (Annette Bening). Supporting cast includes Clifton Collins Jr., Aunjanue Ellis‑Taylor, and Timothy Olyphant.
Apple released her fifth album Fetch the Bolt Cutters in 2020. Since then, she has rolled out a series of new tracks, including the benefit single *Pretrial (Let Her Go Home)*, inspired by her work as a court observer for women facing pretrial detention. In the same year, she covered Neil Young’s *Heart of Gold* for a Bridge School benefit album honoring his music, and contributed vocals to the Waterboys’ *Letter From an Unknown Girlfriend*.
Although she largely stays out of the spotlight, Apple’s roommate and confidante Zelda Hallman posted a video describing the challenge of composing new music amid the “endless barrage of horrors” confronting the world today.
She said, “Perhaps I’m letting perfection hinder good. It’s hard to focus, and even when I do, I keep questioning whether I’m saying it right or if I’m being understood. I don’t want anyone to think I’m ignoring what’s happening or that I don’t care; I truly care, and I expect myself to produce something worthwhile.”
