Serie A side Fiorentina has confirmed a season-long loan agreement for Bournemouth‘s Spanish center-back Alex Jimenez, with a €20 million option to make the transfer permanent.

The arrangement allows Jimenez to continue his playing career despite being suspended by Bournemouth pending an internal investigation into social media posts that prompted the club’s disciplinary action in May.

The 21-year-old defender, who initially joined Bournemouth on loan from AC Milan before signing a permanent contract in February that runs until 2031, was removed from the first-team squad following the club’s allegation that the posts constituted a “serious matter”.

Having established himself as a regular in Bournemouth’s defensive lineup last season, Jimenez compiled 32 league appearances and found the net once during his campaign with the Cherries.
