Five Persons Missing Following Devastating Restaurant Fire in Swiss Alpine Community
Five individuals are missing while eight others have been injured following a restaurant‑apartment complex that was “completely destroyed” by fire in the Swiss town of Thusis, police reported.
Preliminary investigations suggest the blaze originated on the second floor, and the cause of the incident remains under investigation by the Graubünden canton police.
The responders arrived shortly after midnight local time (22:00 GMT on Thursday), with nearly one hundred firefighters dispatched. A crane was required to raise the roof once the stairwell collapsed.
The Alpine region of Graubünden, often referred to as Grisons, continues to attract visitors seeking famous winter ski resorts and picturesque summer outdoor activities across eastern Switzerland.
